Ships in class (partial listing) | USS George Washington USS Harry S. Truman USS Javier Benavidez y Diaz |
Ships in this class are named for past U.S. presidents. Built around the Mark IV Nittany Lion drive, they were the largest ships in the American fleet until the first of the Kitty Hawks were launched, and, like the Kitty Hawks, they must frequently carry drop tanks and operate at below peak drive efficiency to keep up with their lighter, faster consorts. |
